Greetings!
I am excited to find there are a few of you who are interested in going to
Wales this summer. AND, we have a new member who will post to the list
later this weekend! YEAH!! It is always wonderful to find a new cousin.
Please welcome him.
There are now 16 of us on the list, but we have never heard from some of
you. Please, don't be lerkers -- engage us in discussions on your branch
of the family.
Regarding the trip, I need to know when those interested can go. I'm
scheduled to be in Ireland part of the time and have to juggle that agenda
with researching in Wales. I wouldn't want to miss any of you going there.
Also, I will need to be making my reservations within the next month as
I'll be using mileage and you know seats can be hard to get when you don't
pay.
I can gather info on getting a car, if anyone is willing to share the
costs. It isn't a good idea to get a large one as the roads are narrow.
In my opinion, three to a car is enough. That way, if one person wants to
live at the library, etc. the other two are free to escape, etc. ! <G>
I do know of at least three B & Bs in the area...very close. Prices are
nearly the same. I do insist on staying at Fron Goch (I was unable to stay
there the last time and don't expect to go after this trip, although you
never know), but if we all go at the same time, and stay for the same
length of time, we could rotate as it isn't a large B & B. If we are
staggering our stays, we can work out a plan.
Places I will go to research & view (short list):
Bangor Univ.
Dolgellau
Ypstty Ivan
Rhiwlas
Llanfor
Llanrwst
For fun:
Llangollen
Mt Snowden
several castles, etc. (inc. Dinas)
Eliseg's pillar
Can anyone add to the list of locales for known ancestors?
To summarize --those of you interested in going, please email with any of
this info you can:
Possibly weeks you can go
Lengh of time you plan to be there
Interested in sharing a car?
Willing to drive?
Locations you wish to visit
Let's make this happen! Visiting Fron Goch was a very moving experience
for me. And....after all, where better to meet, but to come full circle
back to our home.... 400 years ago!
Best wishes,
Emily
