Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

That should have been Monday 19th April...
even wth the time zones we don't manage to get 2 days behind !! :))
sorry about the mistake.
For those of you who have been sending me requests for help. I am
answering them but I have been havig a problem connecting to my ISP
today, and so it is intermittent as to when I can email. Please be
patient, I will respond to each of you ...
We have decided it would be a good idea to have an opportunity for
people involved in the project to be able to 'meet' up and chat about
things... so we are going to add a FreeBMD channel to the IRC (Internet
Relay Chat) service that is hosted by rootsweb.
We already have a chat session for UK and Ireland genealogy each Monday
at 9pm Local UK Time (currently BST) which is 8pm GMT. We have decided
it would be a good idea to have the FreeBMD one at the same time.
So, starting this coming Monday (17th April) we will be having a
FreeBMD IRC chat channel open.
WHEN: Monday 17th April (and each monday after that)
9pm UK Time which is equivalent to:
3pm Eastern Standard Time (US people should be able to work theirs out
from this !)
7am Tuesday morning ! Eastern Australian Daylight Time ! (Hopefully,
antipodeans can work theirs out from this!
WHERE: With an IRC Client installed point it at :
Port: 6667 or 7000
Once connected join channel #FreeBMD and hopefully we will be there !
Our nicknames on IRC are, unimaginitively, graham, camilla, and ben :))
For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, but would
like to join us ... please email me
mailto:email@example.com and I will help out with some
instructions where I can. It will save time if you can tell me what
operating system you are running.. e.g. Windows95, Windows98, Unix, Mac
If you have any questions about this please email me and I will try to
We look forward to 'seeing' you there ...
bye for now ...
