Hi FLGenWeb Volunteers,
Here is some information on the new FLGenWeb Statewide Surname /
Migration Board. The new board is now online. It has not been linked
for the public yet. Check the format below and see if you would like to
make improvements to it. I will need your help to enter the Surnames
that you have already collected on your county page. You have these
choices:
1) Enter them yourself ( I would really appreciate it if you would use
this or option 2)
2) Email your researchers and ask them to enter their surnames (Be sure
and stress no QUERIES. The E-mail address should be the Researcher's
email, but the link should be to a FLGenWeb Page, your County page or
your County Query Page. Submitters should have provided some
information to you for your page, a query is ok.)
3) Send me what you have and I will enter it as I have time. (But please
at least try one yourself)
I would like to hear from each of you. If you see anything that you
think should be changed, please let me know. This is for the benefit of
the CCs and researchers. Help me make it the best it can be. Some of
the other states will be looking at us on this one. If it works out
they will follow our lead.
The format to enter your Surnames on this board is as follows:
1) Enter Researcher's name in the Your Name line.
2) Enter Researcher's E-Mail Address
3) Enter SURNAME in all CAPS. Enter only one Surname
In the Message Body enter the following:
Earliest Given Name in Florida(Timeframe):
FL Counties:

about the family, the surname or the researcher in the Optional Link
URL: line.
Enter the name for that page in the Optional Link Title: line.
(Hint: Copy and paste the Line Headings for the Message Body Entries.

Before You Enter Your Surname Make Sure that it hasn't already been
entered. If it has been entered, enter your listing as a reply. That
way all listings of the same Surname will be together.
There will be a lead in Page for the SURNAME / MIGRATION Board, that
must be linked to. It will then link to the board. The URL is
http://www.rootsweb.com/~flgilchr/surnmigr.htm . Go and try it out. I
have complete editing power, so if you make a mistake or just want to
change something, let me know.
Thanks in Advance for your help and thanks for being FLGenWeb
Volunteers,
Jim Powell Jr
