Hello to all FLGenWeb members who are on this list. If you do not care for the Google
lists, why not use this list? It's relatively free of influence from the Board of
Directors of FLGenWeb, Inc.
FLGenWeb has certainly gone through some rough times of late. Now, we have an election. We
can vote in a few days if the Board Of Directors gets a Ballot together. Missing from that
ballot will be any amendment to the Bylaws that will give CCs even a tiny bit of
protection from the Board.
I realize that most volunteer CCs don't care about the politics in our Project, but
it's essential that members be aware of the atmosphere in which we find ourselves.
A handful of members on the Board can remove someone from the project merely because they
don't like them. They can make up rules out of thin air to use against anyone who is
not part of their clique.
That is what is behind the recent removal of one of our most productive and knowledgeable
members. The Board did not even extend a common courtesy to the other members, the
majority of members, asking for their input before taking such a drastic measure. And it
was drastic to remove a member who had not violated any Bylaw or any law in the Great
State of Florida. They put a spotlight on our Project by their actions. The Advisory Board
of USGenWeb is well aware of the low blows landed in this odious spectacle. The person
appointed by the ruling group on the Board of Directors, the Representative at Large
(RAL), who has the responsibility to represent all CCs, sat back and did nothing to defend
the innocent CC under charge. That RAL was complacent in the Illegal action of the Board
of Directors of FLGenWeb.
Too many times in the past, CCs have been ousted or singled out for abuse, because they
have been able to get away with it. Most members just do not wish to get involved in the
politics of USGenWeb. That has lead to a weak and less vigorous organization.
