Dear Members,
Basically, after the whoopdedo over the announcement of the FLGenWeb Project, Inc and
move, we have kept the FLGenWeb Archives rather low key, so as not to give the gossip
mongers fodder for speculation. The FLGenWeb Archives is not a secret, but we have not
released the informaiton outside the FLGenWeb Community yet. We are still constructing
its various components.
Needed are a couple volunteers willing to assist in this venture. Assistance is needed
setting up the various pages of the Archives Project, preparing data for uploading etc.
All that is required is a word processor, html program and an ftp program. The format is
the same as
flgenweb.net so there is visible continuity. The majority of all documents
will be in a *pdf format. A link to a free pdf file creator will be provided to you so
you can download the program and create *.pdf files. Documents are being presented in
this format as an added layer of protection to the donor/submitter.
Anyone wishing to assist with the archives or donate to the archives should contact me at
laverne11(a)wildblue.net or southerngenes(a)wildblue.net.
The data contained on FLGenWeb County sites will not automatically be incorporated into
the FLGenWeb Archives unless the CC requests it. Data in the FLGenWeb Archives as a
general rule is not duplicated elsewhere within the project. There wont be seperate ftp
and html archives or a seperate place for cemtery transcriptions. All archives documents
will be listed on the appropriate county TOC, or a Project TOC, or a general statewide toc
if it pertains to multiple counties or the whole state.
Currently there is archive data on Citrus, Hamilton, and Hernando with donations for
Citrus, Hamilton, Hernando, Lake, Orange, Pasco, Pinellas, and Washington awaiting
formatting and uploading. As I am currently the only person working in the archives it is
slow going as I have other things within the project needing my attention as well as my
local obligations to the Historical Commission.

Peggy,
I'm not surprised you didn't know. The option has only been available about a
month. I'm not sure if a big announcement has been made yet. The site is almost
ready to go:
