Dear USGenWeb Coordinators,
One of our County Coordinators wrote to me and pointed out that October
is "Family History Month" and suggested that this yearly event would be
a wonderful opportunity for USGenWeb to promote the concept of free
online genealogy. She suggested that perhaps a proclamation could be
drafted and sent out by coordinators from the National level on down to
counties, to local governmental agencies, newspapers and other media
outlets. Other activities may also be fun and helpful in spreading the
word about USGenWeb and promoting this hobby of ours.
I'd like to form a grass-roots USGenWeb committee to come up with and
implement ideas and plans for Family History Month, to brainstorm and
facilitate activities and/or materials for USGenWeb nationally, and that
State Coordinators and County Coordinators could tap into.
If you'd be interesting in participating in this endeavor, please send
me an email. Please also indicate whether you'd be willing to chair
such a committee. :)
Many thanks to Davison County, SDGenWeb Coordinator Andy (Andrea) Sindt
for bringing this idea up!
