Personally, as long as the include this "collection" in their FREE services
they can index everything I own. To me te whole point of putting
information on the internet is to SHARE IT. I heard objections to their
labelling it as "their" collection and while people may not think so, it is
their collection. If I search out all genealogy related URL's and publish
it, while I don't "own" the individual webpages, I own the index because I
created it. Maybe having worked in an attorney's office for 10 years who
specialized in cyber law makes me see things differently as I have knowledge
of the legal ins and outs of internet stuff that the average citizen does
not.
They collected ALL the URLS with genealogy information and made them
available. Theirfore the body of the collection was theirs.
Sorry to see it gone though it lived and died before I even knew about it.
It certianly would have made the average "Joe Blow's" genealogy web pae more
widely available.

Good morning all --
There has been much discussion throughout the
genealogical
community and USGenWeb Project lists regarding
Ancestry's
IBC launch. The USGenWeb Project has been contacted
by
TGN, and all correspondence to date regarding this
collection has been shared with the Project. They
have
halted and dismantled the collection.
The Advisory Board is also aware of continuing
concerns
throughout the Project that cached pages are still
being
accessed. The Advisory Board will contact Ancestry
for
further clarification of this issue. Thank you all
very
much for your patience as we work to answer your
concerns.
