As the Chair of the USGenWeb Project Election Committee, Mr. Swafford's
statement above is, at the very least, highly improper, and most
definitely totally unethical (not to mention inaccurate, as has been
pointed out elsewhere, including by Don Kelly).
No member of the USGenWeb Project Election Committee, most particularly
its Chair, should *ever* be offering his/her opinions as to the merits (or
lack thereof) of any election issues or candidates.
In fact, I am still amazed that Mr. Swafford and Mr. Stowell didn't leap
at the opportunity to accept my own offer to be on the Committee since
that would have effectively prohibited me from participating in the
Election process at any level other than technical and voting.
I hereby respectfully request that the USGenWeb Project Advisory Board
immediately remove Mr. Swafford as Election Committee Chair and replace
him with a USGenWeb Project member who is willing to agree to act fairly,
impartially and with propriety as is befitting this important position.
I invite all my fellow USGenWeb members to join me in this request.
Permission to forward this email, in its entirety, is hereby granted.
Sincerely,
Carole Hammett
