Good morning Lori
I read this and put it down and now am coming back to this.
The reason I asked about no discussion is it was completely dropped
I brought up the Amendments because they are being discussed by USGW
Each state and CC has an opportunity only once a year to change the bylaws
of USGW. This opportunity is now.
While I agree, the researcher is our main focus - we are part of a grandeur
thing, USGW.
In that IMO each state should at least examine the new Amendments, discuss and
decide
what todo with them. If as a group we decide to discard them, then NO ONE can
say we
did not look at them. That we sat back and did nothing. To say I will take my
pages
else where, does not alleviate the problem but give validation to the problem.
I agree there is too much politics - but politics invades our lives daily.
The first by-laws election was sad turn out. Out of 1600 CC's a handful voted
the by-laws barely passed. There has been discussion and more discussion over
changing
the by-laws. This can only happen withthe states backing the Amendments.
IMO if someone does not discuss the changes and the by-laws and DOES NOT vote
then
they have NO RIGHT to gripe about what is happening to them in real or cyber
life.
All I am asking is we discuss the various amendments and decide for FLORIDA
what Florida will do.

Okay, you want discussion, here is MY IMO.
I care. I care about the genealogists that come to my pages. I care about
my website enough to have a computer dedicated to my webpages and an ISDN
line to reach it; enough to spend hours fixing the system whenever I get a
new piece of software from Microsoft that brings it down; enough to maximize
my content and minimize my webpage download times. And I care about my
family and myself enough not to put myself in a foul mood by subscribing to
any email lists that people use to argue, bicker, snipe and have endless
discussions about by-laws and amendments - as if that will stop selfish
people from being selfish or control freaks from trying to control.
I admit, I have a low tolerance for this kind of behavior. I don't need it
and I won't let it into my life if I can help it - and in this case, I can
DEFINITELY stop it. I've been part of FLGenWeb since January 1998. This is
just the latest in a series of brouhahas. It's never clear who is right or
who is wrong - but for sure it seems to mean another round of rules. If the
pain level gets too high here, I will simply delink my pages and go on just
fine. If people want to find my pages, they will. They can use any of a
zillion search engines to get there. (That's why my pages don't reside on
rootsweb's servers.)
That's one of the great things about the internet, IMHO. I can go direct to
my audience without a lot of hoopla middlemen getting in my way. And I can
do what I CARE about, not what you care about or the NC cares about or
anyone else.
Any questions?

I hate to ask this but is this it?
No discussion no vote?
Just a few voices and it stops???
2 people voiced a NO and that's it.
IMO that's VERY sad for FL
Jim I hope you stay in the running - please don't let them get a way with
this
and to everyone else I am truly sad that we can't discuss this
or rather won't. I don't want to start a flame war but golly geez gang.
Don't you care even a little??
