Dear Lynn and Darrell:
I respectfully request that you please find someone else to host the Martin
County, FL USGenWeb website. I've been suffering from personal and health
problems for the past year or so and find that I can no longer continue to
maintain the website as it should be maintained. I will continue to leave the
website up on the Rootsweb server; however, will remove my entries as soon as I
receive notification from you that someone else is willing to "take over." I
regret that I was unable to recode and move the Rootsweb files over to the new
FLGenWeb server ... Sigh!!!.
I have also given my resignation as webmistress for the Martin County
Genealogical Society (MCGS) website. At this point in time I have no idea who
is going to take over the MCGS website ... which website I have integrated as a
prominent resource and which has become an essential part of the Martin County,
FL USGenWeb site. Walter Bruetsch (waltbruetsch(a)usa.net), the current President
of MCGS (until Dec 2008), has been maintaining the MCGS website with assistance
from me; however, I feel sure that someone will eventually take over the website
as both Walt and I are leaving the MCGS Board of Directors by the end of this
year (2008). The MCGS online PRIIMARY resources are much too valuable to the
genealogical community to "fall by the wayside." Walt is also the chairperson
for the Cemetery Project, as well as being a primary consultant on the Obituary
Project - two of the most popular aspects of the MCGS website. Naturally, this
website is featured quite prominently in the Martin Co USGenWeb website. Walt
is extremely "computer literate" and I would not hesitate to recommend him as a
potential candidate to take over the Martin Co, FL USGenWeb website (as well as
the MCGS website). In addition, he and I have worked together for some years
and he can always rely on me for assistance and consultation regarding either
website.
Because of my health concerns and other personal considerations, I truly regret
that I must relinquish the Martin Co, FL USGenWeb website. There comes a time
in all of our lives when we must make "painful" decisions; this is one of mine.
I am still going to continue to maintain the Sagadahoc Co, Maine USGenWeb
website, so will remain a participant of the USGenWeb "family." I have truly
enjoyed my tenure with FLGenWeb; I've learned so much and have met so many
wonderful individuals. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to
facilitate the transfer of these webpages over to another host.
