Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Alachua/Gilchrist GenWeb sites are the BEST in the US! My wife and I, with
ancestors spread over a large number of counties/states, have seen a ton of
sites and none even come close to these two.
Jim Powell should get a medal or something.

Hi, fellow USGenWeb project members,
On September 1st I will taking office as CC Representative for the
Southeast/Mid-Atlantic region, joining Jim Powell, who continues
in the second year of his term.
I plan, at least initially, to use the list USGENWEB-SE-L as my main
way to consult the CC's of this region as to your opinions, with
copies to USGENWEB-DISCUSS-L (other forums may evolve.) For example,
I will shortly be opening discussion on possible amendments to the
By-Laws - first and foremost, making them easier to amend! If you
are interested in actively participating in the business of running
the USGENWEB project, please join one or both of these two lists.
[ATTN STATE COORDINATORS: If you are the SC for a state in the
SE/M-A region other than Kentucky, could you please forward this
message to your state list? Many project volunteers may not be
on the USGENWEB-SE-L list, and I would like at least the chance
to say hello to everyone in the region. Thanks.]
If you have any concerns that you would like to have brought before
the advisory board, you can either send me email or post a message
to the USGENWEB-SE-L list. I'm looking forward to working with you
all in the two years ahead.

PLEASE VOTE IN THE RUNOFF ELECTION !!!

Does anyone know anything about these two topics?
My family was supposed to have "run" a grist mill on Eglin.
That does NOT mean they owned it, but at least that they
worked at one. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Also, The Eglin folks are still looking for info on families
who lived on Eglin. Squatters are of particular interest as
there is no paper trail for them and when sites are found on
the base, they have no way of knowing who lived there or for
how long, etc.

First of all, I'd like to introduce Ron Harn; he's the new coordinator
for Pinellas County, ron's e-mail is ronharn(a)compuserve.com. He's home
grown and has connections in both Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties.
In the same note, it's sad to say good-bye to Lewellyn Ippolitto, the
former Pinellas Coordinator. Best of luck to her in her endeavors.
Secondly, I'd like to introduce Mike Jones. He will be coming on board
as the Assistant County Coordinator for Hamilton County. He brings to
the project a lot of Hamilton and North Florida Heritage. Mikes e-mail
is mikej1957(a)mindspring.com.
In close, in the past two months you may have noticed there were no
checkin reminders. The past two months the volunteer checkin has been
97%.
