Sue...congratulations on your daughter getting her degree in Sociology. Great to reach
the level of Maghum Cum Laude. That
is something to be be very proud of. My daughter went on to Law School of graduating from
Emmanual College here in Boston.
She missed the Maghum Cum Laude by a tenth of a point!! She had not made the deans list
the very first semester at school and it
came back to bite her!! Luckily she had wonderful roomates who made her buckle down at
the end of the first term and they hounded
her into doing the required studying and she did take their advice. She was in all AP
classes in high school and did well, but college was
like the butterfly being released from the cocoon!! :)
My main reason for dropping you a note is to find out how the situation there is coming
along with regards to storm. We don't seem to
see much of the rehabbing of the homes or much action what so ever. I am sure it is being
done, but with the cold weather we have been
still having, I worry about the families. I hope your family and extended ones have been
lucky enough to be back in their homes. I Just
hope that those in NY and NJ are progressing to the point that they can live somewhat
Some days I just don't know why the world is having so much going wrong and then the
murders in Connecticut....those poor people.
I don't think they can ever recover from that ordeal. I hope and pray the help they
are all receiving will continue for many years to come.
We had a smaller incident here in Wakefield some years ago where a nut came to work with a
rifle and it was the day after Christmas and not
many had to work that day and he went into each office and just shot the workers. I know
a couple survived, but they too have had many
problems since then. Then after all his killing, he went to the reception area and just
sat in a chair with the gun and waited for the police to
come. He is now serving a life sentence with no parole. Thankfully, but we knew on of
the girls killed and she had just gone back to work
after having a new baby. We knew the husband and his family as some of his sisters went
to school with my kids. He has been raising the little
girl and I just hope he finds someone to love again and she can join him with the child.
So many lives in both cases have been damaged and
who knows what the end result will be. The only thing most of us can do is pray for them
and hope they find some peace.
Am off to bed as it has been a busy day for us....grandchildren all loved their gifts and
are happy campers. All of us were together today for
dinner at my nephew's home in the next town for a great dinner, etc. Even another
sister from Maine came down for the celebration . I love
it when the young kids are able to see each other for a few hours....They all had a great
time...ages from 13 to 18 months!! The little guy was
the hit of the party entertaining all the older kids!! Fun to watch!
With that a final wish for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Love to the family,

Just adding my tid bit! (lol)
My daughter graduated with her bachelors (4 yrs) Magnum Cum Laude with a
degree in Sociology. She continued her education 2 more years to graduate
Magnum cum Laude again but with a degree as a Speech Language Pathologist!
If she wanted to continue (which perhaps one day she will) for another 2
years but lots of work - a thesis and presentation- she could acquire her PHD
She was always an exceptional student with a photographic memory - like my
oldest sister who WAS a PHD in Special Education. I often told my sister
(20 years my senior) my daughter was her daughter I just carried her! lol She
is so like her in her heart! Makes me proud every day!
Just to add---here in US we also have trade schools after grad from HS.
Here in US....the more college you have the (hopefully) better your job and
salary will be. Education is a BIG deal here.
Just thought I would add to post!
