The Brendan Voyage is a marvelous book, a wonderful adventure story, and true, to boot! I
loved it. It inspired me to visit the Faroe Islands a few years ago. I got to see that old
house, lived in for something like 18 generations!

Tim Severin has also not only proven that the Arab Dhows could reach
China by sailing one, built in traditional 9th century style with the planking sewn
together, from Oman to Canton, "The Sinbad Voyage" but also that the legends
regarding the Irish monk St Brendan (must have an Irish link in this post!!!) are
potentially true by sailing a Currach from Ireland to Newfoundland via Scotland, The Faroe
Islands and Iceland.
