Thank you so much Clive - nobody else has been game to say it.

I dont see any complaints about it being busy, I see people commenting on
both new comers and existing members being driven away by unhelpful and in
some cases very mean comments. In fact, I unsubcribed to the list myself
because I was sick and tired of biting my tongue, not because of it being
busy. It was the snipey, under-handed comments being made to people, both
on and off list.
Chris has been doing her best to moderate and steer people in the right
direction, but I fear her words are not being listened to. Every few weeks
the same issue keeps arising, and posts from those affected get fewer and
fewer, then disappear. This is a quote from someone who left the list:
"Over the past 9 months, I seen some really helpful advice, I have learned a
lot. I thank you all for that. But in the past few months, I have seen many
unhelpful comments to others & a lot of personal chit chat between members
which should have been sent off list. I have become somewhat disillusioned."
This unhelpful comments complaint arises time after time.
Some people are not comfortable with "Googling" or searching online. It can
be quite complicated separating the rubbish from the facts. This coupled
with being in another country and never experiencing the Irish way of life,
which we in the county sometimes do take for granted. I consider myself a
local and I learn new stuff EVERY day. In a lot of cases I learn by
researching queries from people in other countries who trigger the interest
by asking the questions. A lot of them are the same questions repeated over
and over, but every newbie should be given the respect and dignity they
deserve and not "told off" for asking questions, being lazy, or not doing
x,y,z. They will learn in time and hopefully they will become the teachers
of tomorrow and become active on the list, passing on their knowledge. This
is the way it works and has worked for generations!
Yes, The Fermanagh Gold list has a great reputation, but I have to say that
I agree with Robyn and her comments above. I have also noticed posts turning
rather unfriendly over the past 9-12 months. I appeal to everyone on the
list to respect other people, especially the newbies. You may have answered
the question on numerious occasions but treat it like its the first time,
every time or simply dont post! Fermanagh is well known for being a happy
and friendly place, that I believe is why Fermanagh GOLD list has that
reputation, please dont lose that.
Now I have been beating around the bush for most of this reply and I dont
like saying this, but most of these comments are being made by you Dave. I
dont know if it is your sense of humour or what but in my case it was your
comments which caused me to leave, basically before I said something I
Please think about how your comments affect other people. People who may
not understand your humour or your background. If too many people leave,
the list will become like many others and Id personally hate to see that

What I don't understand is why join a busy list and then complain
Why not join either:
FG is what it is, a wonderful list where NO ONE gets stuck on any topic
and is a great learning centre.
Before people leave or complain have a look at the OTHER CHOICES for
Fermanagh and THEN DECIDE which they prefer.
All over other boards there are recommendation after recommendation
after recommendation for FG because it is so good..
Even FG members should look at the alternatives!!!
