Cheryl,
Have you tried the 1901 census? It's a long shot, but it might pay off. I got
married in 1967 and my parents were still alive in 2000 and my dad still in 2001.

Thank you everyone for all the valuable information that I have
learned from all
of you.
I am very stuck pinning down my second great grandfather. His name was James
O’Brien. The only documented record I can find is his name on the marriage
certificate of his son, Bartholomew O’Brien and Catherine McManus. Bartholomew
identifies his father as James, a farmer. Bartholomew’s wedding was at Monea,
Fermanagh, Ireland on a March 4, 1867. Bartholomew’s kids were born at
Meenacloyabane Townland and they were connected to Garrison. Family still
lives there.
I cannot find any Baptism info for James or Bartholomew. I did have a DNA link
to Longford. I found a Griffith Valuation for Ballyshannon, which, I believe
may be my James. He is listed with a Dennis O’Brien, who, I believe is a
connection as a family of Dennis O’Brien is buried at Mary Queen of Peace
Cemetery in Garrison. So, I have bits and pieces. I cannot find a death
record or spouse’s name for James.
I am really frustrated....anyone have any ideas?
Thanks so much,
