Dear John for Joan Stover and List, I also have used Family Tree Maker a long time, since
1993 when the first version I used was given to me for a Christmas gift. I have upgraded
several times to newer versions and have never lost a single comma. One excellent feature
is the ability to toggle back and forth from the huge ancestry database to my own records.
I can also add photos and documents to the scrapbook function which will appear in a
book. Reports can be generated in pdf format which almost everybody can open and view.
Entering data and making corrections is easy but labor intensive. I have heard good things
about Legacy, also. Shirley (in Florida and Maine)
I am looking for a genealogy software that will be able to do an all in one chart--the
main line but also sisters and brothers of those in the line. I am considering Family
Historian but have seen one review that basically said it wasn't worth the trouble.
At first glance it seems good to me, one mainreason being that it can do the all in one
chart. It also looks like it can create a good book also. I am willing to put in some
start up time if it will do what I want it to! Has anybody used this? Opinion? Thanks!
P.s. I am using this for my husband's German roots and they are really well
documented. That's such a change from what I see for my clan!
