Which Regiment of Foot?
The British army used the term regiments of foot to designate any Regular
They were originally named after their Colonels,
but this confusing practice ended when they were given Line numbers.
Eventually this was replaced by more modern designations
for example The 1st Regiment of Foot is now named the Royal Scots.
many of these older regiments are amalgamated into newer regiments or exist
only as part
of a Regular of Territorial regiment.
I would recommend looking at this site for more information on all the
regiments of the British Army.

Does anyone have an address for the Regiment of Foot. It's possible my
grandfather Robert Armstrong of Brookeboro was a member.
