I don't know how to pronounce the Gaelic for TOOMYVARA, but it appears to be:
Tuaim Uí Mheára (Irish)
Perhaps TOOMEOARA is a valid phoenetic spelling of the Irish name ?
Maybe one of the Gaelic speakers on the list can clarify it.

Subject: FERMANAGH-GOLD Toomeoara
I was looking through some old notes and found mention of the town of TOOMEOARA, in Co.
Tipperary....a place-name which embodies their surname. (Meara,Mara)
I cannot find this townland or district, the closest seems to be TOOMYVARA town.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them.
