I am looking for any information of the MURRAY family of Newtownbutler or surrounding area.
My grandmother was Catherine MURRAY and she was baptized in St. Mary's RC Church in Newtownbutler on June 29th, 1909, Diocese of Clogher and Parish of Galloon.
Her parents were James MURRAY and Margaret GIBNEY. The sponsors were John BOYLAN and Catherine REILLY (possibly REILLEY?).
I don't know where they lived. Does anyone know which townlands were within the parish of St. Mary's RC Church.
After reading many of your letters for help and of success in Fermanagh's History, I'm hoping that some one may be able to point me in the right direction.
Charles LANE married Catherine DUNDAS before 1800 in Conagher -- son James LANE was born 1797 Strathonaghar Co Fermanagh - James married Ellen KERR / CARR I believe her Father was Thomas KERR / CARR
James and Ellen LANE came to Australia in 1866 with their 6 children and settled in Queensland Aust.
Ibelieve that Charles and Catherine LANE were buried at Monea Cemetery. But have no proof of this statement.
Story has it that the LANE'S came to Ireland to work on the Ulster Plantation?
Is there any way of confirming this story?
Sue Lane, Bundaberg Queensland Australia.
