One other thought occurred to me. Family Historian allows you to base any
diagram on either an individual or a couple. If you select a couple as root
for the Descendant diagram, you would only see them and their children. You
wouldn't see other spouses of either of them. One way to select a couple is
by 'lassoing' them in a diagram (click-and-drag outside either box, and then
draw a stretchy box round both of them). I don't think you could have done
that unintentionally. But you can also select a couple by simply selecting
(clicking on) a family record - e.g. in the Records Window. And you might
perhaps have done that thinking you were selecting an Individual record.
If you look at a person's record within the Records Window, if they are
married they will have one or more "Spouse family" tags (fields). In the
right-hand column it will show a little icon with 3 coloured boxes (its
supposed to look something like a family tree diagram). The text will say
"...with John Smith" (or whatever). If you clicked on this line, it might
seem that you are selecting John Smith's record. In fact you are selecting
the family record, representing the person's marriage to (or other
relationship with) John Smith. Having selected that text, if you clicked on
a Descendant diagram, you would see a diagram based on the two of them, as a
couple, and other spouses (of either of them) would not show.
Do you think that there is any chance that that is what happened? If so,
you should have seen the boxes for both people displayed in the 'Root'
colour (white by default).
Incidentally, as you probably know, if you are viewing X in the Record
Window and want to select their spouse, the quick way to do this is to
locate their spouse family field for the spouse in question, and click on
the little white box to the left of the family record icon (the one with 3
coloured boxes). This will allow you to view the linked record and see (and
select) the Individual record for the spouse.

Subject: [FHU] Diagram problems (more response to Simon)
Simon: I found a zip backup from June last that had no parents of 2
wives, parents fields all greyed out, no spaces, just plain empty.
You can see what's coming can't you?
All 3 wives and children appeared on the descendent diagram for the same
Yes, "show spouses" was enabled on the June zipped copy.
I have no explanation. When I learned of that bug, I added dummy parents
2 of the 3 wives and at once they all showed in descendants diagram
to their root husband, and children to boot.
Finger trouble? But I make many descendent diagrams.
