no sure if this is what you want to do but:
in the records window, select an individual and bring up the
right-click menu. There is a new item Add Flag, and selecting this will
give the options Living, Private and <New Flag>. The latter allows to
create immediately any other flag, just giving it a name, eg "Birth
Certificate needed". The flag is added to the individual, and can be
added to other individuals as required in the same way since The Add
Flag list will now include the new flag just defined.
Maybe I've understood the flags wrong but I thought the idea was
you own flags for each individual record rather than a "global" flag (for
want of a better word) that applies to everybody in your Records Window.
Which is what I believe Dave has described below. I was hoping to use the
flags for things like Birth Certificate, Death Certificate etc. and then
writing queries to see who, depending on their birth date obviously, I have
and haven't got certain certificates for. Obviously this "personal" flag
would only apply to those born after 1837 or whenever.
Apologies if I've got this wrong, but I think Dave has stumbled on something
else which may also prove useful although editing Family Historian system
files like that, you might want to ask Simon if it does any harm as hidden
modules of the software may use it.
