Obviously FH V3 was developed before recent Windows versions were available and so cannot
However, I run the 'FH V3 'Read Only' version on Windows 7 and Vista without
So there is no reason why FH V3 should not run on Windows 8, which under the hood is
similar to Windows 7.
Nevertheless, there are several pitfalls that you need to be aware of.
These are well documented in the FHUG http://www.fhug.org.uk
Visit the FHUG website and click 'Knowledge Base' and then 'Family
Then under 'How to guide' click 'Installation' and then 'How to
(Re-)install Family Historian'.
Check through all the details, but pay particular attention to the following:
'Windows Security Warnings' especially on Windows 8.
'V2/V3 Help Pages Refuse to Display' for Windows 8.

Can any one give me a definitive answer please..does v3.1.2 work under Windows 8?
Very happy with this version so really don't want to go to v4 or v5, but will be
forced to move to Windows 8 as my current desktop
has died in a very spectacular fashion. Can still use this version under Vista though.
