I use Nick's Gedcom Census program to enter census details. This doesn't
create a family event for the census so no problem. However in any
attribute/event situation the sentence can be edited in the appropriate
properties window to say whatever you want. Changing the sentence in
Fact Sets just changes the text generated to the same format everywhere.
If you want or need to vary it a lot, editing the sentence directly
gives you more options. You can swap the parameters around, add words or
phrases, or even discard the parameters and generated sentence
altogether and create a free form sentence, or two.. of your own.
I've also encountered this problem. You can of course change the sentences
by using the Tools/Work with Fact Sets menu. I cannot however find any way to
stop the surname appearing. Whether you use the couple code or the
individual/spouse code the female's maiden name still appears. The only solution
found is to manually remove the surname from the finished report which is not
ideal but is much less confusing than having the husband appearing with his
wife's maiden name.
