First may I make you aware of the FHUG http://www.fhug.org.uk

It is important to understand that, somewhat confusingly, there are two different types of
Text From Source field.
One is local to the Source Record itself and only needs completing once regardless of how
many Citations there are.
The other is local to each Citation and displayed in the yellow Sources pane.
It sounds like you are Copy & Pasting the Citation from the first Baptism to the
second Baptism and so on.
So naturally it copies everything: Source link, Entry Date, Assessment, Where within
Source, and Text From Source.
Therefore, you will have to edit the Text From Source field for each Citation for the 8
You also need to understand the pros and cons of what is called Method 1 and Method 2 for
Other topics to consider are Tools > Automatic Source Citation and the free program

Subject: [FHU] Text from Source problems
Although I bought Family Historian 5 when it came out I have only just started using it in
earnest. My problem lies with the Text
From Source feature. I have added eight children to a family and have
created a new Source record for the Old Parish Register of
Baptisms that covers the
time and place where these 8 baptisms took place. I then added the text from the O.P.R.
baptism entry for
the first child into the Text From Source field on the Source pane for this first entry.
When I added a source citation for the
second baptism I found that I had duplicated the Text From Source field entry from the
first baptism. How do I stop this happening?
All 8 baptisms need to cite the same source as they all took place within the same Parish
over a given number of years. I realise
that I am doing something wrong but can't figure out what it is. Please help as I am
running around in circles.
