I am using the Custom Id field for my reference numbers and this displays
perfectly on my All Relations Chart. However, despite checking the "Custom
Id" box in the Source Information to Include section under the Source tab of
Report Options, my Custom Ids do not display at all in my Narrative
Reports. I should like the Custom Id to be shown for each individual in the
reports. What am I doing wrong, please?
The other problem I have not been about to solve is how to enter approximate
dates [e.g., for an individual whose age is only known from a census entry]
so that it is recognised as a date [rather than being included as a "text"
item]. I should like to be able to see at a glance that the date is only
approximate but still be able to order the individual by that date.
Sue - that CustomId is the CustomId for the Source record, not the
individual. When I set it, I can see it against the source in the list of
sources at the end of a narrative report. If you meant, you wanted to see
the CustomId for the individual, I can't see how to get that in a narrative
report. There is an option for RecordId on the Main tab - i.e. RecordId for
an individual but that's the internal GEDCOM number, not the one you set
yourself as the CustomId.
Re approximate dates for births: you have a range of possibilities. You can
enter a year with a qualifier of "Approximate" or "Estimated".
sort of difference between the two). Or, if you have an age from a census,
you might end up with a Range, e.g. "btw Mar 1895 and Mar 1896" - go to the
Range tab of the Date Entry assistant - that's what comes up when you double
click a date entry box or single click it followed by clicking the button
with 3 dots on.
