Now that I read over the message I posted, it does not appear clear even to
me of what I wanted to find out. My indent was to verify if the 1781 Hugh
IRWIN's wife was named Jane SIMONS or Jane HARDING as I have seen posted before. It
could be that he was married to both, but the 1895 article indicates he was
married to Jane Simons.

I too have a William H. Irwin. Mine was born in 1831 in Harrison County,
Indiana and moved to Boone County, Iowa as a young man. I still do not know
who my William's parents are.
I remember that there was another William Irwin from Iowa, somewhat older
than mine, who was an officer in the Civil War. You might want to check
this out - I have come across quite a few mentions of him.

Subject: [IRWIN] Hugh & Jane Irwin
I have a message from the Fremont Co. Iowa board that states in a
article that Hugh Sr. wife was Jane Simons.
"HUGH IRWIN md. JANE SIMONS.--Their son W.H., 76 years old, born in Ohio
now of Sidney, Iowa; md. Hattie Leonard; 41, born in Illinois,
J.W. Leonard and Abbie Rogers; md. on August 5, l895 by the minister of
Cherry Grove Church."
Hugh & Jane had a son William H. Irwin born in 1820 which comes out to be
approximate date noted above in 1895. Incidendly, Hugh Sr.'s
had a daughter Elizabeth that married a Simmins (could be sic
marriages, Hugh and Elizabeth were in Westmoreland Co. PA., so could
into the same family.
What do you think about this ?
