FOR INTERNET SAFETY ALWAYS cut the document from the existing email and then
paste it into a new one... and also REMEMBER to erase all previous email

Good evening from Florida,
I am new to this list and this is my first post. I am trying to locate
information about my Great Grandparents and a starting point would be
the 1891 census if someone could kindly do a look-up? My grandfather,
George died before I was born, but I have inherited many of his papers
and documents. Information gleaned from his birth certificate is that
he was born in the Registration District of Wandsworth, Subdistrict of
East Battersea, County of London, at 99 Robertson Street on 8/8/1895.
Father's occupation is listed as Plumber (Journeyman) and the mother is
listed as Eliza BOWDEN formerly STEVENSON. I know that my grandfather
was a twin and that his brother's name was Alfred.
I also know that he had two other brothers, William and Robert and a
I have found that by 1910 my grandfather was attending school in
Toronto, Ontario and I know that his sister Helen and twin brother
Alfred also lived in Canada. On his enlistment (attestation) papers for
the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force (WWI) dated 11/9/1915 he lists
his father, John as next of kin and gives his address as: 1YE Theatre
Street, Lavender Hill, Clapham, London SW. This is the last reference I
can find of his parents among his papers. His obituary of 8/21/1959
says he was survived by his brother William Bowden of London, England as
well as his brother Alfred of Toronto and sister Helen Lee of Niagara on
I would like to find out his parents birth, marriage & death dates and
birth/death information about his siblings, and why he would have been
in Canada by the age of 15 when his parents remained in England.
Sorry for the length of this post; any help or advice would be
Does anyone have any information on the following:

His brother Alfred PETTITT (abt 1871- ?

Thank you for your message. I am sorry that your visit to Bagshot was not
more successful, but yes I can help.
St Anne's Church does not have, and never has had, a graveyard.
Prior to the building of the present church in 1883 the village 'church'
was a chapel in the loop formed by Chapel Lane and School Lane. It had a
After the new church was built this continued to be the burial ground until
it became full, when it was closed (I do not know when that was). It is
now maintained by the local council.
From what you describe, it would sound as though your great great
grandfather will have been buried there. The two links below show you where
the graveyard is. The possible alternative burial sites would be Windlesham
Church, or Lightwater Cemetery.

Hi, This is my first e-mail to this listing. I am looking into the above
names in my family history. Charlotte May was born in Bude, Cornwall in
1854, she married Frederick Lisney in 1875 in Croydon Surrey. They had five
children, one of whom emigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, his
name was William James LISNEY. The other children were Florence b 1877,
Frederick b 1878 d ?1946, Fanny b 1879, Frank b 1880 and William James b 26
May 1885 d 13 January 1965 in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Frederick also died
in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.
We know the family were living in Croydon, Surrey, but do not know where the
children, other than Frederick and William James Lisney, went to live, who
they married and when Frederick and Charlotte died. Any information on this
LISNEY family would be gratefully appreciated.
We believe that there is someone connected to this family who are searching
their family history, but haven't got the information further back than
Charlotte's parents. Charlotte's - father William Richard Morley MAY and
mother Jane MILLER. We have more information on them that we would like to
pass to other family searchers.
Please, if anyone has any information that might help in our search we would
be so grateful.
Kind Regards and Best Wishes in your searches
Shirley and William

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for the list but I thought it was sort
of genealogy related...
There is a young man in Vancouver, British Columbia whom is suffering from
Global Amnesia... Information and a photo of him was printed in today's
Vancouver Province Newspaper which can be found at:
The reason why I'm posting to this list is found in the following excerpt:
A linguistics expert pegged his accent as upper-middle-class Yorkshire. But
although eight Yorkshire newspapers and two TV shows in Britain publicized
his plight, no one recognized him.
If you are missing someone in your family or perhaps a friend please see the
article with photo at:
