Thought I would mention that one of the best presents I got at Christmas was
from my husband John - and a total surprise.
'How Our Ancestors Lived, a history of life a hundred years ago'.
by David Hey
pub. The Public Record Office, Richmond, Surrey
David Hey was granted permission to view the 1901 census returns before they
were made public in 2002. Using material from previous census returns and
contemporary pictorial and written evidence he has produced a book showing
us an insight into the life of late Victorian England and Wales. Topics
include family life, housing and health, education and religion, work and
leisure, migration and Empire, wealth and poverty. There are also case
studies of ordinary families.
Very best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year to eveyone.
Every time I find an ancestor - I have to find two more!
