Subject: Edward John King.
> The above person is my gggrandfather. He emmigrated to New Zealand in 1863
and died suddenly age 36yo in 1880.The Death Reg entry stated he had been in
New Zealand(from England) for 17years prior to his death.
> His parents were Samuel and Elizabeth King,I have calculated his birth
year as 1844 based on his age when he married in New Zealand and the date
of his death.
> I have been given information that leads me to think he was born in
Cockfield,Suffolk based on his childrens names of Samuel ,Elizabeth,William
Joseph,Alice,Amelia Maude,Rose and "Ted" being ?Arthur Edward.
> Also the Edward John King born in 1844 in Cockfield was in Hackney,London
in the 1861 UK Census but not to be found in 1871.I have also not found a
Death Reg entry for him.Can anyone pont me in the right direction with
regard to his emmigration/departure from England.I would be looking from
late 1861 thru to 1863.
> In 1861 he was a Wharehouseman but his profession in New Zealand is listed
as a "butcher".
> Maybe he went to Australia first prior to coming to NZ.Any info greatly
