A plea to anyone on the East Yorkshire list who may have connections to any RICHARDSON
family resident in Holmpton or surrounding villages in the late 1700s and 1800s.
Using mainly internet resources (as I live in Sydney, Australia), I have been trying to
connect the varying RICHARDSON families in order to find the parents of my ancestor Peter
My Peter RICHARDSON married Isabella Banks FAGG in Drypool on 9 Jan 1811. He was born in
Holmpton approximately 1779. He died on 22 Jan 1856 in Easington.
There is also a second Peter RICHARDSON, born approximately the same time who married
Catharine JOHNSON on 24 Dec 1901 in Holmpton. He died in the NE riding lunatic asylum,
Clifton on 9 Dec 1853 and was buried in Holmpton 2 days later.
Unfortunately I can only find one baptism record for a Peter RICHARDSON in Holmpton.
Baptised 4 Dec 1780 to parents Samuel RICHARDSON and Mary (nee BAMFORD).
Some researchers seem to have assumed this is “my” Peter RICHARDSON, but I can find no
proof for this
Samuel RICHARDSON and Mary had 10 children that I can find.
If I can find fellow RICHARDSON researchers who have been able to successfully trace their
family in Holmpton, this may then help me to isolate my line.
The sources of my research have been mainly
Ancestry (census records and other peoples research)

Several publications of Monumental Inscriptions from the region
Holmpton marriages 1739-1837
