I am sure that Janson did NOT write Cowp. The transcribers are not paid
enough to spend the time needed to see that that 'w' is really an 'm'.
that time period, I have found that the written 'e' looked very much like
how we now write an 'o'. So I suspect that the only mis-spelling he made
was to use "C" instead of "K" which is a very understandable mistake.

I am still trying to figure this family out. I have some notes from the will
of Janson Metcalf who died at Brandesburton in 1752. He names his daughter
Ann as the wife of Obadiah COWP, which I took to be a mis-spelling of KEMP.
