How exciting! What a dream trip. Have fun. Thank you for the information.

PRO in London was the old name for Public Record Office. Things have
moved on since and it is now called TNA or The National Archives and it
is based at Kew. See http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/
If you click on the 'Records' section on the home page of the TNA website
you will bring up a page with various options leading in to excellent
to the holdings at Kew. If you follow the Find a Person link you should
uncover all sorts of interesting stuff.
I am off to London in a month for a 5 day research visit with the Oldham
branch of the Manchester & Lancs FHS. There are 49 of us on the trip this
year and we will be going to Kew at least once. Last year we all came back
with great piles of A3 printouts from the on-line databases. Almost took
more space than our luggage!
Hope this is of use.
