>From Jean Penrose Sundborg of Seattle, Washington.
My Penrose cousin, Patricia, and I will be in York from Sept 28 through
October 2. We would like very much to meet any Penrose family
researchers who descend from the marriage of James and Susannah Penrose
married in Foxholes in 1795. Their daughters married Levitt, Robson,
Ezard, Hodgson, Smarfit, Anthony, Harper. Their two sons, George and
William immigrated to America in the 1840s and that's where we fit in.
We would be very happy to meet and visit with anyone who is descended
from their daughters who remained in England. We are always trying to
learn more about the earlier generations of Penroses prior to James and
about his wife's ancestors, the Riby family.
If you are part of this Penrose family tree, or know someone who is,
please email Jean at jpensund(a)juno.com to tell us if you might be able to
visit York any day we are there. Also please forward this information to
any other Penrose researchers you know.
Finally, I want to show Patricia, and anyone else who is interested, the
Penrose's village home of Foxholes, near Driffield. We would be
delighted to pay for petrol and a lunch for someone in the area who could
drive us from York to Foxholes and return.
Again, thank you, Jean

I am hoping to find living descendants of Robert Marsh, b. c 1839 in Liverpool, "forgeman", who came to Sculcoates from Liverpool between 1891 and 1901. His first wife (or partner) was Maria Greenwood, neé Hopkins, b. 1851 in Liverpool, but who appears to have died not long before the move to Sculcoates. Maria was my g-grandmother by her marriage to Thomas Greenwood. Maria and Robert had a son Robert b. 1879 who appears to have stayed behind in Liverpool, but the three daughters went with Robert. They were: Miriam b. 1889, Violet (Maria) b. 1890 and (Gladys) May b. 1893. They are all in the 1911 census with him in Sculcoates. I know Miriam married a George Riley in Sculcoates in 1915, and there were two children, one of whom may have living descendants, and I am waiting for news of them, but that's the end of the story for now. If anyone can help me with subsequent marriages and/or children, I'd be very glad to hear from them.
