I have been sent the following message:
Hello, my friend has come across some documents, photographs and letters to
a Mrs Welburn of Boynton, Bridlington. They concern the death of her son in
the battle of "Arras"?? in 1917. The letters refer to the manner of his
death(from his Commanding Officer) and from the War Graves commission
telling her of the whereabouts of her son's grave. It is a very interesting
package and my friend would like to pass it on to anyone researching the

I am not sure if this is an outrageous question to ask but I was wondering if it is at all possible to do a look-up on the 1891 census for York.
If this is a possibility I would love a look-up for:
1 Flintoft Square---looking for George MACHEN (age about 43) and Jane E. MACHEN (age about 39) There should be about 5 or 6 kids there. (just a guess on how many kids would be there). Benjamin might be the eldest one there, but he married in 1892 so not sure where he was in 1891. (age 22)
Also I am looking for 23 Milner Street. The people there, I am hoping, should be Thomas BAKES (age about 66) and Elizabeth BAKES (age about 60). There might be Violetta (age 15), Martha (age 18), Rhoda (age 21), and maybe Minnie (age 24). Minnie married in 1892 so not sure if she would still be there or not.
If this is just not a possible look-up to do, please, someone, just let me know. I do not want to look like a real idiot here. I also do not want to put anyone out.
Here's hoping, Beverley

I'm back seeking help from my favorite list. I am searching and trying to
separate my Edward Dunns. So far I have picked up three of them I can't seem
to fit right on the family tree. Can anyone Help? Here is what I know:
Edward Dunn born: London. (Prior to 1800.)
Elizabeth born London.
Their son Edward:
Edward Dunn born: 1813 London.
Married: 5 August 1836 Hedon, England at St Augustine church.
Hanna Wilson born: 1816 Roxby, England.
This is my mystery Edward
Edward Dunn born: 1808 London
Sarah born: 1812 London
Edward & Hanna
Edward & Sarah keep appearing in all the same locations during the same time
periods. They are separated by birth approximately by five years.
Both families appear in Edinburgh in 1861 and then again in 1871 in
Inverness. They are both listed as China and Glass merchants. (Perhaps
cousins.) This mystery is driving me as crazy as a bed bug. Can any one help
me solve it? Hope some kind soul has the answer.----Jim

I know I'm not the only LAMPLOUGH researcher on the list, but I've got a fair
bit of info on the ones from Langtoft and North Burton, stretching back to
Robert L (b circa 1776, m Sarah WHARRAM in North Burton in 1804).
Anyone specific you were looking for?
I am still new to this research business but am interested to hear from anyone looking at the same lines.
I am still in the 1800's with these families.

Having tried Lincoln, Caistor, Hull and Beverley register offices, and
the FRC, I'm still struggling to find the birth certificate of Ann Eliza
PARR, daughter of John PARR and Lissy (Elizabeth). I know her date of
birth - 12th May 1857 - and we know she said she was born in South
Kelsey, and was living at Welton with Melton for her marriage in 1877,
but where on earth did they register her birth, if anywhere?
Your town of HEDEN is, I suspact HEDON in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The
Chuch, therefor, and the Parish is St. Augustine's.
I have copies of Hedon Parish Registers and will be pleased to do look-ups
for you or anyone having problems.
Has anyone lost Mary SONLEY of Hull? I found her burial listed on 1 Dec
1863, aged 82, on a LDS microfilm of the Wigginton, Yorks., Parish
Registers. I was not looking for SONLEY, but just happened to notice this

Ron, in Ayr, Scotland.
I was wondering if anyone out there had the 1901 or 1891 indexes for
Beverley, who would be prepared to have a look for me (do I need the
address??? as I don`t know how this works!!)
The family is:
John Craven Lightowler b.1851(Elvington) (aged 40 in 1891 and 50 in 1901)
Emma Lightowler (new wife/ maiden name Wilkinson)
(an assortment of the following children as some may have left home)
Amy b.hull (aged now 16 or 26 in 91/01 censuses)
Lilly Louisa b.hull (aged 14/24)
Louis C. b.hull (aged 12/22)

Ivy Doris Jemima (born 1901 so might be there in 1901 or not !!)
If anyone can help I would be very grateful, Thanks,
Also I will re-offer....If anyone wants something looking up on 1881 census
or 1851 (only norfolk / warwickshire / and devon ) I have plenty of time on
my hands at the moment.
I would like to trace a family that lived in East Yorkshire.
I don;t have many details but the information is as follows:
Henry ANSELL married some time after 1881 (place unknown) and had a daughter
Zillah (date and place of birth unknown.) In 1954 Zillah's uncle Frederick
Henry Ansell died in South Africa and left a small legacy to "Zillah ANSELL
married to Craggs SIMPSON of Simla Lodge, ......... East Yorkshire." There
is a space between Simla Lodge and East Yorkshire presumably where an
address was supposed to be added but never was.
I would be most grateful if someone who has easy access to a directory could
check to see if Zillah and Craggs Simpson are listed anywhere. My goal is
to try and find any descendants.
I would be very happy to reciprocate with a search in Los Angeles.
