Well, was I surprised to see that there were three Ruan parishes! A few
months ago when the lists went back online with the new and so-called
improved version of Rootsweb, I checked what lists in the areas of my
interest were stranded and need an owner. One was RUAN in County
Cornwall. At the time I signed up to take it over and occasionally, I
have sent a reminders to the list that we will lose the list if we do
not use it. Now, not only do I want to wake up the list but also add a
section to my website to cover it. I am looking for ideas and, frankly,
Yesterday, I started with my Lists that I admin in England and started
with Cornwall, thinking it covered only two parishes, Ruan and Veryan.
Now, thanks to your email mentioning that Ruan was actually three
parishes, I did some research and map looking and find that you are 100%
correct. I have found they are named: Ruan Major, Ruan Minor and Ruan
Laniborne. I checked the Rootsweb lists and they do not have lists for
the three separate parishes, only Ruan so I guess we will cover all three.
I also checked my Phillimore Atlas and Index and find there are separate
records for all three. So, I am thinking, if I do a webpage for RUAN,
it will be one webpage with three sections when it comes to records but
I think the surname registry can cover all three.
Looking for ideas, questions and, of course, corrections.
