1. Mary Absalom JONES, Died 9 Feb 1899, Johnstown, PA, USA: widow of David Reese Jones;
born in 1824 in Garnfach, Nant-y-Glo, Monmouthshire, South Wales, her maiden name being
Mary Absalom; parents, James and Annie Absalom, died in South Wales; one of 10 children,
all deceased except Charles Absalom of Plymouth, Luzerne County, and David Absalom of
Abercorn, South Wales. Mrs. Jones was married twice; first husband was Evan Jones;
ceremony performed by Rev. Samuel Williams in the Herman Welsh Baptist Church in
Nant-y-Glo; 5 children born, all deceased; a few years after the death of Evan Jones,
married to David Reese Jones by Rev. William Thomas of Newport, South Wales; five years
later, in 1863, emigrated to America; one daughter, Hannah Margaretta Jones, was born, but
she died in infancy.
2. Margaret Jane JONES, Died 17 Feb 1899, Pittston, PA, USA: wife of Joshua Jones; aged
35; born in Dowalis, South Wales; emigrated to U.S. 13 years ago; shortly after her
arrival, she married Joshua Jones; survived by her husband and one son, Fenwick; no other
relatives in this country.
3. Mary M. JONES, Died 16 Feb 1899, Edwardsville, PA, USA: widow of the late John M.
Jones of Scranton; emigrated 40 years before from Cwmbach, South Wales; survived by three
brothers - David and John Daniels of California and William Daniels, of Chase, Pa.; four
daughters and one son - Mrs. Jenkin Jones of Miner's Mills, Mrs. Thomas D. Thomas of
Edwardsville, Mrs. Thomas W. Howells of West Pittston, Mrs. David M. Davis of Scranton,
and Daniel R. Jones of Lykena and 21 grandchildren.
