I have promised in a couple of notes to publicise my interests. I will make
this the first of 2 notes. If anyone can help me with extending the tree
below, I will be happy to try and help others in return. I live on the
outskirts of London so have ready access to the FRC, PRO and Newspaper Library
at Colindale. (Also the London Metropolitan archives, though I have never had
to use them before).
I have traced my BEVAN line back in some detailto William BEVAN, born c. 1818
in New Moat Pembs according to several censuses. He married Martha THOMAS 5
Oct 1843 in Maenclochog.
From the Marriage cert I have their fathers as Thomas BEVAN, Labourer,
Benjamin THOMAS, Ostler.
I have not been able to find Benjamin THOMAS in the 1841 census.
I have found one Thomas BEVAN (b. ca 1780) in Maenclochog in the 1841 census,
with (presumably) his wife Elizabeth (born ca.1775) and (again, presumably)
daughter Elizabeth (born ca 1815). Also living with them was Elizabeth Eynon
aged 'Over 75', and who could possibly be Elizabeth Sr.'s Mother.
William and Martha had 9 sons and 2 daughters, who either stayed in Pembs or
moved to Skewen, Glam. One son, Richard, born in 1854/5 disappears after
1871, presumably either dying or emigrating.
If anyone can help me prove that the above Thomas was William's father, and
then go back further, or help me trace Richard's fate, I would very much
