Subject: [Dyfed] Question on BANNS
Dear Fellow Researchers
Would anyone be kind enough to explain to me how the BANNS of marriage
work. What was their purpose ?
The reason for my question is that I have a marriage certificate for
Morgan Parry marrying Mary Rees on Dec 30th 1840 in the chapel of Strata
Florida in Caron.
On the marriage certificate, which I have, it states that Morgan's
father is David Parry, a farmer. But from my research I believe Morgan's
father to be Thomas. Thomas is stated on the certificate as being
present at the wedding and I am wondering what are the chances of the
name of the Grooms father and a witness being recorded incorrectly.
Would the Banns help me with this problem and if so, where would I be
likely to find them for this marriage.
As always, all help is really appreciated
Thanks in advance
