Hello again Sandra,
Fantastic news you bring. Catherine was my great grandmother and although I
knew the year of her death I did not know the date - nor did I know that she
was buried at Cold Inn. Her very untimely death left five children under
eight to be looked after. One of them was my grandmother Cora Davies who was
two years old at the time. She subsequently spent her childhood living with
her grandparents William and Elizabeth on the farm at Cuckoos Wood. I knew
there was a Thomas Morgan Davies but had no idea that he had died so young.
I am also most grateful for the information on William's and Elizabeth's
deaths and the details of our mutual lodger. Can't say I am too impressed
with the "ardent Temperance" bit though.
Many thanks indeed.
John

Hi John
The weather cleared up and we managed to go to Cold Inn after all. Hope
these are the ones you are looking for. There was no board or plaque on
the
chapel wall to say who the minister is now. Posting this to the list
as
well
in case anyone else is interested.
This one was to the right side of the chapel as you go through the
gates.
In Sacred Memory of Catherine the beloved daughter of William and
Elizabeth
MORGAN of Cuckoos Wood and wife of James Davies, Pembroke Dock who
died
October 23rd 1880 aged 30 years.
Erected by her son Willie
Also Thomas Morgan Davies son of the above who died September 11th 1891
aged
17 years

You'll be interested in 'our lodger' as well!
In Loving Memory of the Rev Thomas Erasmus GRAVELL, Pastor of this Church
for 50 years 1888-1938 aged 74 years. He was secretary of the
Pembrokeshire
Baptist Association for 31 years and was the first president of the
English
wing of the Baptist Union of South Wales and Monmouthshire. He was an
ardent
Sunday School and Temperance worker and also held many other social
offices.
Best wishes
Sandra
