My goodness, it seems no matter where we are in the world, things are
much the same! Here in Tacoma, Washington State, USA, as a child I was
bounced, and now bounce my granddaughters on my knees! As they face
away from me, I bounce them, sing-songing "Trot, trot to Boston, Trot,
trot to Lynn. Look out, (child's name), or you'll fall in!" And of
course you spread your knees and they drop to the floor laughing and
begging for you to do it again. I have no idea of the origin of these
words, but everybody seems to know them here.
