I think I can help with the geography if not the names. It seems as though
you're referring to my 'neck of the woods' The Bangor referred to is now
usually known as Capel Bangor and is some 2 miles from here (Goginan) and
New Cross is a hamlet about 2½ miles from it. From Aberystwyth, Capel
Bangor is 5 miles east on the A44 and New Cross is about 4 miles south-east
on the B4340.
St David's Church in Capel Bangor only dates back to 1847. Prior to that it
was within the parish of Llanbadarn Fawr.

Can anyone help please? I've just received a copy certificate
for the marriage of Benjamin Davies to Ann Jones 1869 in the Parish
Bangor, in the district of Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire.
Benjamin Davies was a Miner age 21 and his residence at the time of
is noted as TAM Y BANC - his father Charles Davies - Miner
Ann Jones age 20 residence noted as NEW CROSS - father Evan Jones - Miner
I have searched fruitlessly for these two places, can anyone give me
information on them? is the spelling correct? I am at a loss!
In the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census records, Benjamin gives his place of
as Llangrannog - he would be born 1847/1848.
The IGI gives only one Benjamin born to a Charles Davies - in 1847 at
Llangrannog, but this Charles is a Farm Bailiff at Wervil Brook,
at that time.. .. I wonder if he gave up farming and was a miner by
Can anyone do a look up for me to check for the birth of another Benjamin
1847/1848 in the Llangrannog area with a father Charles?
Any information or advice on any of the above would be very much
