I believe I am beginning to uncover a skeleton in the above families. I
suspect my great great grandmother Caroline FLAY may have left her husband
and set up home in Wales and with her children, assumed the SPACKMAN name. I
can find no death of her husband or marriage to SPACKMAN so I am re tracing
and double checking.
To that end could Some Kind Soul check the 1871 census of the High Street,
or possibly Dew Street, Haverfordwest for me. There should be a family of
George SPACKMAN 39, butcher, Caroline (calling herself his wife) aged 49 and
three children, Samuel aged 20, Mary Ann aged 16 and Charles Tom aged 6.
There may be another child (man), Job FREEGARD from another of Caroline's
marriages. He would be about 27.
Any sighting of a Charles FLAY 43 around the scene would be very helpful.
