1. Mrs. William HAMMOND, Died 19 Jul 1888, Wilkes-Barre, PA, USA: Nearly 69 years of
age; native of Cwmaman, near Aberdare, Wales; lived in Wilkes-Barre 19 years; survived by
her husband and four daughters; Mrs. Geo. S. Rees, Plymouth; Mrs. Peter P. Jones, Mrs. Wm.
P. Jones, and Mrs. Mary Williams, of Wilkes-Barre; and a son, David, in Wales.
2. Mrs. Mary E. DAVIES, Died 26 Jul 1888, Hyde Park, PA, USA: Born in Merthyr Tydvil,
South Wales; resided in Hyde Park since 1863 [it could be 1883]; widow of the late Rev.
Joseph E. Davies, a well known clergyman of this valley and the Lackawanna; survived by 7
children: Eli J., Lemuel and Thomas; Anna, Salome, Roxanna, Lizzie, wife of Mr. E. Aston,
of Nanticoke and Kingston.
3. Lewis W. DAVIS, Died 31 Jul 1888, Edwardsville, PA, USA: Aged 50 years; native of
Cefncoedcymmer, Merthyr Tydvil, Wales; emigrated to U.S. about 25 years before; survived
by 10 children, three of whom are married, and the youngest of whom is 3 years old; Mrs.
George Dearie, of this city, is a daughter.
