1. Mrs. Edward MATES, "Died" 8 Aug 1888, Georgetown, PA, USA: Age 35 years;
mother of 12 children, 7 of whom are living, and all of them are young; emigrated to U.S.
six years before from Pandy, Rhondda Valley, Wales; father, Mr. Jenkins, arrived from
there only a week ago. (Retracted in the Friday, 10 Aug 1888 newspaper..."the lady
is doing well and in no danger whatever.")
2. Thomas JENKINS, Died 12 Aug 1888, Washington Territory, USA: From Aberdylais, Wales;
planned to speculate in mining property in Washington Territory; succeeded better than
they expected, but Mr. Jenkins was seized with cholera morbus Aug. 12 and died.
3. David PEARCE, Died 13 Dec 1888, Miner's Mills, PA, USA: Age 46 years; native of
Aberystwith, Wales; survived by a wife and four daughters.
