Thanks very much for the info Annie. I have got her address from the US S.S. Death Index
on the Latter Day Saints site. She died in Ocean (I presume this is the county)?
I haven't applied for the copy of her application, it said the charge was $27. Maybe I
should get it anyway, and see what happens.
I shall do a search now for the county, and see what I come up with.

In a message dated 4/23/03 9:13:44 PM Pacific Daylight Time,
If you are looking for a will in New Jersey, you have to know the name of the
county. In any kind of American research, you need the name of the county.
However, if you know where your Aunt died, there should be no problem finding
out the county name. According to the Handy book, "beginning in 1804, all
wills and admons are at the County Courthouse." Go into Yahoo or Google and
look for the County where your Aunt died and then check for addresses.
By the way, did you get a copy of the application that your Aunt completed
and sent into Social Security? If you haven't you should. It should tell
you the names of her parents including the maiden name of her mother, where
she was living when she applied for the Social Security card, her occupation
and where she was born. I don't know if there is still a charge to obtain
this application. The one time I obtained a copy, I sent in my fee and it
was returned to me with a comment that I didn't have to send any money. I
still got the application.

I have just made my first connection with the U.S. I have found my great
aunt in the Social Security Death Index in 1970 in New Jersey. Can anybody
tell me how I go about tracing a will in the U. S. please?
