Thanks for all that . I suspect that Rhos Castle was also in the vicinity
of Ffair Rhos !

No detailed answer, I'm afraid, but after a lot of digging around I think
managed to establish that this address is centred on modern-day
while Ponterwyd is much further north.
The Cross Inn (not Crop inn as it appears on the next page of the census)
still at the cross roads as the Tafarn Cross Inn, but old-maps.co.uk isn't
very helpful in identifying names of individual houses in that area.
Ten years later the family are living in Rhos Castle, wherever that was,
weaving sounds profitable!
I suspect that all this land was once part of the Trawscoed estates of the
Earl of Lisburne so their office may be able to help.

Rather confused regarding the place name of Botover (Upper Gwnnws) .It
appeared on the 1881 census for the family of Thomas and Ellenor Evans .
dwelling was called Tycroes .
Can anyone enlighten me ? Is there such a place or just another mistake
.Could it mean Ponterwyd ?
