Hello Roy.Don't expect everyone to conform
to the "Census Enumerators Rules",when giving them the information on Census
night. A "Boarder"could be anybody.He/She could be a ordinary
lodger/boarder.Someone working with a member of the family?Or most Probably,a member of
the family?Possibly a third cousin,twice removed downwards.But a bit of a mouthfull for
the Eumerator to fathom out,So they told them they were just a "Boarder"instead!
I had one such case in the 1901,when I found an Ellen WORK boarding with my
great,great,grandparents William & Martha COULTHARD at Hubberston,Milford Haven.
Also in the 1891,as a "Boarder"a Sinclair WORK was Boarding with my
Great,Gradfather Joseph COULTHARD at Cardiff.
Both Ellen & Sinclair WORK were Cousin's to my COULTHARD family.
I did'nt know it until later,But Sinclair WORK'S family were in the
His son Wilfred was on the Lighthouse Off Gibraltar from 1907 onwards.
Note:-Sinclair WORK's Mother was my Great,Great,Grandmother's[Martha COULTHARD,nee
EVANS,born 1831 at Milford Haven] SISTER.
