I ordered a film from Salt Lake City for the following:
Wills, Administrations, Inventories
Church in Wales, Diocese of St. David's
Episcopal Consistory Court
Carmarthen Wills and Admons 1856-1858
I have been transcribing wills/Admons for my area of CGN & CMN so I espected
to see Wills. What I found was the following:
Heading: Diocese of St. David's Register of Wills & Admons received at CMN in
the year 1856
Then there were columns headed by:
Surrogate & to whom charged
Parish Sent off or Paid for, denoted by a half x
Parish sent & paid for, denoted by a full X
Name of decease
Probate or Admon.
Sum Sworn Under
On Account of Stamp in Full or otherwise
List of Parcels (rec'd)
Lres & parcels (sent)
Sum total to be paid
Permanent # enclosed Will or Admon.
Date of proceeding
Memoranda thereof P or A to shom delivered or sent
In the USA, this would be some kind of a court record through a county or a
city. I presume this is some kind of a court record from the Diocese.
I'm curious, what is this record? Also, how do I find the actual wills.
They were not there.
The xecond part of this film (the part I was really interested in) was
Registry of Acts & Leases 1662-1684
I picked out a Cardiganshire one and wrote down the first part of it:
This Indenture made the Second day of August in the 16th year of Our Soverign
Lord, Charles Second by the Grace of God King of England, Scotland, Ffrance?,
and Ireland defender of ye faith & between William Slayton, Mason, of the
Arts ereafuror? of the Cathedral Church of St. David's County of Pembroke &
Parson or prebondary of the parsonages or probandall charged and rectories
inpreopriate of Llanisullio & Gogo and at Llandissillio (Llandyssul?) and Llangrannog
in the County of Cardigan of the ? part and Sir Ffrancis Lloyd of Maes y Velin
said County of Cardigan, Knight, of the near part, WITNESSETH that the said

said Churches .....
There's another two pages to this one indenture.
This is apparently a land indenture - I'm curious as to what this is? I was
also curious - was Charles King of France as well?
