My ancestors are the Hunt family who are found in Mold, Flintshire around
the end of the 18th century. They travelled to Cyffig via St Brides,
Pembrokeshire. These Hunts are my Gt4 Grandparents William Hunt (b. 1767)
and Ann Moore (b. 1764), married on 10 January 1792 in Hawarden, Flint.
They had children George (b. 1793); Daniel (ch. 1795); Eleanor (ch. 1795);
Ann (b. 1796); James (b. 1798: d.1798); Mary (b. 1799); Elizabeth (b.
1800); Dinah (b. 1805) and Margaret (b. 1810). The children were born in
Mold (Flint), except for the last two, who were born in St Brides.
Parents William and Ann died at Old Pale Farm Cyffig (Dinah's home); Ann on
29.1.1825 @61 and William on 29.3.1841 @74 [ref. memorial inscriptions at
Cyffig Parish Church]. We know most of the descent line of this family.
We believe Wm Hunt's father was a Wm Hunt (d. 1785) who married firstly a
Susanah and, secondly, an Ellen, and who lived at Park Farm, Broughton,
Flint. We believe that this elder William Hunt may have come to Flint from
We have made a little progress on the Irish 'Hunt' connection but cannot
establish any definite links to the Flint family.
Has anyone else researched this family's Irish connections? In particular,
when did Wm Hunt come to Flint?
Thanks for any help anyone may be able to give.
