A few years ago my father died and I took his ashes back to the village where
he had spent his childhood and where his father was buried. The churchyard
so overgrown that I could not get to the grave so scattered the ashes in a
local beauty spot of which I had a photograph showing him with his father. I
actually met the vicar at the church but was told I could not have any form of
tablet or commemoration in either the church or churchyard. I felt that the
money I would have spent ought to go towards helping the church do something to
clear the churchyard so sent him a cheque for GBP250. This cheque was cashed
very promptly but, to this day, I have never received any acknowledgement.
I like to think this vicar was an exception but nevertheless I was very hurt
at the time.
Bye for Now
